41 oxygen plants to be built for hospitals of Indore by August 15.
To review preparations for the expected third Covid-19 wave, a committee made up of district officials on Wednesday visited hospitals and commissioned 41 oxygen plants to produce more than 100 tons of gas. The committee set a deadline on August 15 to complete the work. “Of the 41 oxygen plants, 15 are active and five more plants will be launched next week as plant parts have arrived in the area and will be installed early.” ADM Abhay Bedekarsaid. The task of completing all 41 Indore units is likely to take a month. “If all goes according to plan, all 41 oxygen plants will be installed by August 15.” ADM Bedekar said. In addition to the oxygen plant, Index Medical College has installed two plants capable of storing 20 tons of oxygen.
“In this way, the college will have 20 tons of oxygen for its patients,” he said. According to committee secretary, Dr Nishant Khare, oxygen plants will help Indore become self-sufficient in meeting the oxygen needs. “The 20 plants, which are operational, will produce about 60 metric tons of oxygen and production will grow after all 41 plants are operational,” said Dr Khare.
